Bhubaneswar: The Governor of Odisha, Hari Babu Kambhampati, has suggested the idea of establishing provincial-level connections between Odisha and Da Nang, Vietnam.
This proposal was made during his recent trip to Vietnam, where he accompanied the sacred relics of Lord Buddha back to India.
During a meeting with Le Trung Chinh, the chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, Kambhampati emphasized Odisha's rich historical background, vibrant cultural traditions, and rapid economic development.
"Odisha is home to numerous significant Buddhist sites. If Da Nang is interested, we could explore the possibility of fostering ties between our regions," he stated.
He highlighted that Buddhism has served as a vital link between India and Vietnam for nearly 1,800 years.
Kambhampati expressed India's commitment to preserving and promoting its Buddhist heritage.
He noted that collaboration between the two nations is growing in various sectors, including trade, defense, tourism, health, digital economy, education, and sustainable development.
The increase in direct flights between India and Vietnam has significantly enhanced interpersonal connections, he added.
